At present, there are many individuals who take home remodeling projects in their own hands. If you have some construction skills in you and you’re thinking of doing a do-it-yourself project, you could try this out. Bathrooms are a place that every individual spends most of the day from the time you wake up, until it’s bedtime. Therefore, if you’re planning to enhance the look of this area of the house, you need to follow some steps. It’s not an easy task for an amateur to take over.
To start off with, you should measure the area of the flooring and choose the deign and style that you want. On the other hand, you should also think about the overall look of this area. Since, this is a main aspect and next to choosing it, is installing it. Therefore, if you’re planning to install it on your own, here’s an easy guide to follow:
i. Gathering tools
First and foremost, in order to start any project, you should gather the appropriate tools other than the main items. Therefore, in order to start installing bathroom tiles, you should have these such as gloves, goggles, measuring tape, level, adhesive, spreader, grout, pencil and tile cutter. Afterwards you could start off with the rest of the instructions.
ii. Measure the area
Even though you measure the area before to order the new flooring items, you should measure the bathroom again. If there were old tiles, remove it off, clean the surface thoroughly and dry.
iii. Plan out the fitting
Next, you should place the porcelain slabs according to how you planned it to be, in the draft (drawing). You will be able to get an idea, once the tiles have been laid out. Take the measuring tape and pencil and measure the size of the slabs that should fit in the area. It’s important that you take the proper measurements.
iv. Cut the tiles accordingly
If there’s extra length or width, you should cut the bathroom tiles according the measurements you’ve noted down. Always double-check the size, before you cut it. Leave the tiles that don’t need any adjustments as it is.
v. Install and fill gaps
Now start placing spacers in order to install it and lift each tile, apply the adhesive on the floor and place the tile over it. Cover the entire bathroom flooring in this manner and wipe off the excess adhesive. Later, leave it over a day in order to set in place. Afterwards, remove the spacers and start applying grout with a spreader. Do a neat job and wipe of the excess.
After you’ve completed this do-it-yourself project, don’t use this area for about a week. Let the new tile flooring to harden and set in place. As you could see, with a little bit of hard work, patience, time and dedication, you could do it on your own.
